Supermarkets are running low on some food as supply issues begin to bite

Supermarket shoppers are feeling the effects of the global pandemic on the country’s food supply, with a shortage of bananas and some other grocery staples.

Foodstuffs spokeswoman Antoinette Laird said Covid-19 was continuing to affect the global supply chain and New Zealand was no exception.

Congested Auckland port nears ‘normality’ by late April

The country’s key port for imports, Ports of Auckland, is hopeful that many importers might see a return to relatively normal wait times towards the end of April.

A massive bottleneck at the port has taken a toll on the port’s first half result, which saw net profit fall to $13.6 million in the six months to December 31. That compared to $17.2m a year earlier.
